In 1727, mid way through the opening of the Opera Astianatte, rival queen sopranos, Francesca Cuzzoni and Faustina Bordoni, physically fought it out on stage, destroying the production. This significant incident gave birth to the Royal Duelling Sopranos.
Five passionate generations of Royal Duellists later, Desiree and Cherie are now the official heirs proudly carrying on the legacy and tradition of the Royal Duelling Sopranos. Not the fighting, but duelling vocally, touring internationally just as their talented ancestors did before them.
